MontanaHelp is a free guide to moving to and living in Montana. To keep it free, the site may earn money in two ways: affiliate links and display ads. This page explains how both work, in plain English.
The short version
- Some links on MontanaHelp may be affiliate links. If you click one and then buy something or sign up, we may earn a commission.
- It costs you nothing extra. You pay the same price you would pay if you went to the company directly.
- Commissions don’t change what we recommend. Our guides are built on official and public data, and we don’t rank, include or leave out a company because it pays us.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is a special link to another company’s website, such as a moving company, a hotel or tour booking site, or an insurance quote page. The link lets that company know you came from MontanaHelp. If you then make a purchase, book a stay or complete a quote, the company may pay us a small commission. When you click an affiliate link, the company (or the affiliate network it uses) may set a cookie to record the referral. Our Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.
How we keep recommendations honest
- Research comes first. We write each guide from official and public sources, and we decide what to cover before we look at whether a related affiliate program exists.
- We say so on the page. Any article that contains affiliate links says so near the top, before the first affiliate link.
- We only describe what we can support. We don’t claim to have personally tested, used or vetted a product or company unless the article clearly says we did. We describe what the company and our sources say, and we link to them so you can check.
- No paid placements in disguise. We don’t accept payment to include, rank or praise a company in our guides. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labeled as sponsored.
Display ads
MontanaHelp may also show display ads. Ads are placed by an advertising network, not hand-picked by us, so an ad on the page is not an endorsement of the advertiser. Ad networks and their partners may use cookies and similar technology to show and measure ads. Our Privacy Policy explains how that works and the choices you have.
