Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information montanahelp.com (the “Site”) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The Site is a WordPress content site hosted by Hostinger.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, the Site’s hosting servers automatically record basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you request, the referring page and the date and time of your visit. These server logs are used to run, secure and troubleshoot the Site, and are kept by our hosting provider under its own retention practices.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. The Site uses a small number of functional cookies, plus analytics cookies set by Google Analytics (described below):
- WordPress sets cookies when someone logs in to the Site, and, if comments are open, may remember the name and email address you enter in a comment form if you choose that option.
- LiteSpeed Cache, the Site’s caching plugin, may set cookies so the server can show the correct cached version of a page, for example to logged-in users.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking functional cookies should not stop you from reading the Site.
Contact form
When you use the Site’s contact form (built with WPForms), the information you submit, such as your name, email address and message, is sent to the Site owner by email and used only to read and reply to your message. We will not sell it or add you to a mailing list without your permission.
If you sign up for our Glacier 2027 alerts using the form on our site, your email address is collected through Kit, our email provider, and used only to send that list. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the Site. It uses cookies and similar technology to collect information such as pages viewed, time on page, the referring site, approximate location and device type. We use this information in aggregate to understand which guides are useful; we do not use it to identify individual visitors. Google’s use of this data is described in its own explanation of how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.
Display advertising
If the Site begins showing display ads, for example through Journey by Mediavine or Raptive, the ad network and its partners may use cookies, pixels and similar technologies to show ads, measure them and, depending on your choices and location, personalize them. These companies may collect information such as your IP address, device identifiers and browsing activity on this and other websites. If ads are added, we will update this policy with the ad network’s details and the opt-out choices available to you, and you can also use industry opt-out tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance’s WebChoices tool.
Affiliate links and disclosure
Some pages may contain affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and then make a purchase or sign up, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. When you click an affiliate link, the company you visit (or its affiliate network) may use cookies to record that you came from the Site. We do not receive your payment details or personal information from those purchases.
Affiliate disclosure: In line with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on endorsements, any page that contains affiliate links will say so clearly near the top of the page. Commissions do not change our research or the official data we cite, and we only describe what our sources support.
Third-party links
The Site links to websites we do not control, such as government agencies, data providers and businesses. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we encourage you to read them.
How we share information
We do not sell personal information. Information is shared only with service providers that help run the Site, such as our hosting provider, Google Analytics and the contact-form and email services described above, and, if added, the advertising services described above. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Children’s privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your privacy rights
Depending on the U.S. state you live in, you may have rights under state privacy laws, such as the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to access, correct or delete it, and to opt out of its sale, of “sharing” for targeted advertising, or of profiling. To make a request, contact us through our contact page. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. If display advertising is added, we will also explain how to opt out of targeted advertising.
Data security and retention
We use reasonable measures, such as HTTPS and our hosting provider’s security tools, to protect information, but no website can guarantee complete security. We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Site changes, for example when we add advertising or change the tools we use. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and the “Last updated” date above will change.
